Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve: an opening gambit in a prestige lineup of Japanese single malts
With the Distiller’s Reserve, Yamazaki invites customers to begin a journey that celebrates Japanese whisky heritage
Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve was first released in 2014. A popular single malt, it’s matured in a combination of Bordeaux wine, sherry and Mizunara oak casks. This is a 43% non-age-statement release, said to have included whisky aged around 8-10 years between caskings.
One of the things that makes Yamazaki stand out is that it is a very carefully curated brand. This is not a producer that floods the world with multiple releases – it maintains its sense of calm and coordination, offering a concise range of whisky that respects its simplicity.
