Planteray Rum drives its Caribbean profile into vintage French cognac casks

Don't miss: Linkwood and Midleton VR 2025in stock

Planteray Cut & Dry Coconut Barbados Rum

Maturation matters for Planteray Rum, a brand building a Caribbean success story on French cognac tradition

Matured in ex-bourbon and French oak casks, the company’s mission is to develop the rum category within the family’s centuries-old tradition of aged cognac. Using slow fermentation, pot and column still distillation, it bottles exceptional rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and beyond.

After initial maturation in the Caribbean, much of the rum embarks on a lengthy journey to France for a second maturation in French oak. It’s a costly approach that creates some stunning flavour combinations.

Here are three Planteray bottles from our shelves – two vintage and one core creation – to help you get to know the brand better:

Linkwood 50

If you’ve ever dreamt of joining the ranks of those who have tasted or owned a 50-year-old whisky, then this is for you. Representing incredible value for both vintage and status, this 50-year-old Linkwood single cask bottling is a rare chance to own a truly rare release.

Lyrically described by Charlie McLean as “A haughty dowager duchess of a whisky”, Linkwood 50 Private Collection is an exclusive and elegant part of Scottish whisky history.

Midleton Very Rare 2025

Every year, the whiskey world eagerly awaits the release of the next Midleton Very Rare, part of a collection that began in 1984. The 2025 release is a truly special year, as it marks 200 years of whiskey-making excellence at Midleton Distillery.

Here is a whiskey of unrivalled depth and balance, meticulously composed from six distinct distillate styles. This year’s release pays tribute to the past and the extraordinary whiskeys that have come from this iconic distillery.
