The second release in Diageo’s eight-bottle collection, Prima and Ultima, set out to capture the sunrise and sunset of eight vintage casks’ historical journey
Prima and Ultima are Latin words meaning “first” and “last,” respectively. When Diageo set out to create a new series in its Rare and Exceptional Collection in 2020, the Latin phrase perfectly captured the brand’s intention: celebrating Scotland’s ultra-premium whisky-making heritage.
A singular whisky expert curates each edition. The first series was handpicked by Johnnie Walker master blender, Dr Jim Beveridge. For this second release, Diageo’s master blender, Maureen Robinson, took up the mantle. She relied on her more than 40 years of whisky-making experience to forge a collection that captures the sunrise and sunset of each cask.
