This Japanese edition of Teeling’s Lost Explorer series creates a delicious blend of Irish and Japanese distilling by finishing this 15-year-old in Mugi Shochu casks. 

Mugi Shochu is a traditional Japanese spirit made from fermenting five types of barley infused with Koji, a fermentation culture that creates lots of lychee and melon flavours with deep nutty undertones. 

It marries beautifully with Teeling’s Irish whiskey, initially matured in ex-bourbon. The extra time in the Japanese casks brings a complex and distinctive aroma of sweet fruits, tea and sugared vanilla that leads to a palate rich in tropical fruit and nutty gingerbread. Bottled at 46%.
