This is a Gordon & MacPhail, Private Collection release – a half-century Speyside malt preserved in remarkable condition. Charles MacLean, one of the world's leading whisky authoritiies described it as “gorgeous, mythical creature… a unicorn.”
He awarded it an exceptional 94/100 points, placing it firmly in the upper tier of ultra-aged Scotch.
On the nose and palate: sandalwood, candied citrus, antique oak, and layered fruit sweetness – carried with a silky, composed finish that only five decades in wood can produce.
