The Crystal Malt Effect: Bushmills 26
With over 2.5 decades in oak, Bushmills 26 is a stunning example of the Northern Ireland distillery’s centuries of achievement
In 1997, when Bushmills 26 Crystal Malt was laid down to mature, there had never been an Irish single malt produced using crystal malt. Not a company that likes to rush things, its makers at Bushmills didn’t hurry its reveal. Instead, they took the long road to releasing this world’s first. During that time, several other distilleries (and many craft beer producers) discovered the magic of crystal malt. But, first is first, no matter how many follow, and that’s a position the world’s oldest-licensed whiskey distillery is very confident about.
Bushmills 26 is a new core member of the Bushmills Prestige Collection, a series of extra-mature single malts representing the best of Bushmills’ ambition and progress. The 26-year-old joins an extraordinary family of single malts, including a 25-, 30-, and 31-year-old.
